Dr. Mary Ellen Copeland will present “Creating Your Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP),” a preconference university at the National Council for Behavioral Health Annual Conference (NatCon17) on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 1–5 p.m. The event will take place at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington, just before the main NatCon17 Conference, April 3–5, which you are also invited to attend. All attendees of Mary Ellen’s workshop will receive a signed copy of the book WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
In this preconference event, you will learn how to develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan, a simple, safe, yet powerful self-help wellness and recovery strategy that anyone can use and that is being used in every state and around the world. Mary Ellen will lead participants step-by-step through the process of developing their own WRAP.
Anyone can use WRAP. Dr. Copeland herself uses WRAP every day, to relieve the depression and anxiety that have been her constant companion and that had kept her from being the kind of person she wanted to be and doing the things she wanted to do. By developing a Wellness Toolbox (she now has more than 100 Wellness Tools) and using those specific tools every day to keep herself well and get through more difficult times, she has built for herself the life she always dreamed of.
“WRAP has made a huge difference in my life. Before WRAP, I often struggled with anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder. With WRAP in my life, I have felt better than I ever thought I could feel. I have done things that I never imagined I could do. I look forward to sharing WRAP with you,” said Dr. Copeland.
WRAP was developed with a group of peers who were learning about Dr. Copeland’s self-help research. Since its development, Dr. Copeland has spent the last 20 years sharing WRAP with others in every way she and her ever-expanding team of colleagues could think of, as well as setting up the not-for-profit Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery to ensure people could still learn about WRAP after her retirement. Now WRAP is used extensively in every state and in various countries around the world. The number of people who use WRAP, as well as the number of organizations and agencies that offer WRAP to people who use their services, continues to grow.
