My name is Courtney Hood and I am 23 years old and have 14 months in recovery. I had been addicted to something since I was 14 years old. I moved out of my parents’ house a week after graduation and moved across the country. This move kickstarted seven years of hell. I put myself through a lot of trauma before I decided it was time to get help. I made that decision January of 2021. I completed a 30-day program in Panama City, Florida and then from there I went to a Christian 90-day/sober living program. I completed their 90-day clinical program and entered the sober living environment. From there, I enrolled in their leadership development track where I was working side-by-side with the women in the program.

After starting leadership, one of the therapists gave me all of the CDAC training material and I am enrolled in my first year of a Bachelor’s in Psychology. I was feeling a bit stagnant, so I decided to do an unpaid internship at our church. I am now concluding the internship and have gotten a job at a different nonprofit long term recovery program for women as a recovery mentor. I have big dreams after I get my Bachelor’s degree and would like to start my own recovery coaching business and have workshops available for drug and alcohol treatment centers that would train their staff members to have a recovery coaching position and improve upon their curriculum.

I want to be the best and most helpful I can to the women I will be working for and would love to get trained, get advice, information, curriculum, etc. Anything that you think would be helpful that relates to recovery coaching, mentoring, and a position at a drug and alcohol treatment center.

I have been involved with unpaid internships for the past eight months if that tells you anything about my financial situation.

    Any information helps!

My email is courtney.hood7@gmail.com if you would rather private message me. I would be so grateful!

Hi Courtney- What an incredible story- thank you so much for sharing. I’ll certainly keep my eyes and ears open for opportunities for you. Any company would be lucky to have someone with such drive and passion, like you. Good luck!
