How do I find the words to describe my first WRAP Around the World Conference? Here are a few that spring to mind: empowering, encouraging, exciting, uplifting, inspiring, energizing. I had already had a taste of the support and love of the WRAP community in person in November at the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery’s Mentoring for Re-entering Summit, but it did not prepare me for the amazing impact of WRAP Around the World.
It’s hard to pick a favorite part of the conference. Amey Dettmer’s moving keynote, Keris Myrick’s address on the final day of the conference, daily Zumba and the Zumbathon fundraiser on Tuesday night, the Members’ Reception on Monday night—they’re all part of my top five WAW2017 experiences. But my number one most treasured conference memory is YOU.
YOU and your smiling face when I greeted you at registration with a nametag and your conference bag.
YOU and your wonderful questions and ideas when we chatted at the WRAP and Recovery Books table.
YOU and the amazing work you are doing in your communities that you shared through your presentations and conversations.
YOU and the love and support you showed me when I shared about my experience using Zumba as a wellness tool during some of my darkest times.
What was your favorite part of WRAP Around the World? If you didn’t attend this year, what have you most enjoyed hearing about from the conference? Please share on our Facebook page!

At WAW, we launched a survey for the WRAP community, developed in partnership between AHP and the Copeland Center. We want to hear from YOU, whether you’re using WRAP for your own wellness, facilitating WRAP groups, administering or managing a program that incorporates WRAP, or some combination of those roles. Click this link to begin the survey. In 10–15 minutes, share how you’re using WRAP and what impact it has had on your life. Your input will help shape the future of WRAP by building the evidence base around what we know is true: WRAP works for everyone!
There is also an opportunity in the survey to provide feedback about any new materials you’d like to see or updates you’d like us to make to existing materials. At the end of the survey, you’ll have the chance to tell us if you want to participate in future WRAP research as well.
As a thank-you for your contribution, you’ll receive a code for a one-time discount of 15% off your purchase of $20 or more at WRAPandRecoveryBooks.com after you submit your responses. Click this link to begin the survey.
The survey is completely anonymous. Please share the survey link with your friends and colleagues who use WRAP! The more voices we have, the better!
